- Preheat grill to medium (300°F to 350°F). For the sauce, in a medium saucepan stir together vinegar, sugar, ketchup, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and salt and pepper to taste. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer 5 minutes or until thickened slightly.
- Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper to taste, then place on grill rack skin side down. Grill, uncovered, about 20 minutes, turning once. Brush chicken pieces with sauce. Grill 15 to 20 minutes more or until chicken is no longer pink (165°F), turning frequently and brushing with sauce. Transfer chicken to a serving platter. Serve warm.
