Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. fresh tomatillos, husked, rinsed and chopped
  • 1/2 jalapeño pepper, seeded and choppedâ?
  • 2 tbsp. chopped sweet onion
  • 2 tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro
  • 6 tsp. fresh lime juice, divided
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced, divided
  • 1/4 tsp. salt, divided
  • 3/4 tsp. dried cumin
  • 1 lb. lean sirloin steaks

  1. For salsa, combine tomatillos, jalapeño, onion, cilantro, 2 teaspoons of the lime juice, half the minced garlic, and 1/8 teaspoon of the salt in food processor; process until smooth.
  2. In small bowl combine remaining 4 teaspoons lime juice, remaining minced garlic, remaining 1/8 teaspoon salt, and cumin; pour over steak. Marinate 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat broiler. Coat rack of broiling pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set oven shelf 51/2 inches from broiler. Place steaks on rack. Broil steaks 6 to 8 minutes each side or until instant-read thermometer registers 160°F for medium. Serve with tomatillo salsa.
