Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup coarsely ground coffee beans
  • 3 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp. chopped fresh basil, divided
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp. coarse salt
  • 2 lbs. boneless beef sirloin steak, 1 1/2 inches thick
  • 2 tbsp. butter, softened
  • 3 tsp. olive oil, divided

  1. In a small bowl combine coffee, brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of the basil, 2 teaspoons of the oil, garlic and salt; stir to moisten evenly. Rub on both sides of steak, pressing to adhere. Cover and refrigerate up to 30 minutes.
  2. Coat grill rack with nonstick cooking spray. Preheat grill to medium-high (350°F to 400°F). In a small bowl combine butter and remaining 1 tablespoon basil; cover and refrigerate until serving.
  3. Drizzle steak with remaining oil, and place on grill. Grill, covered, 5 to 8 minutes per side (145°F for medium-rare) or to desired doneness. Remove from grill; let stand 5 minutes. Top with basil butter, and serve.
