Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 lbs. beef stew meat, trimmed
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 lb. baby carrots
  • 1 celery stalk, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 1/2 lbs. potatoes, peeled, cut into large chunks
  • 1 (14.5-oz.) can low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp. cornstarch

  1. Combine flour, salt, pepper and garlic powder in a slow cooker. Add beef; stir to coat. Stir in onion, carrots, celery, potatoes, broth and Worcestershire.
  2. Cover; cook on LOW 5 1/2 to 7 1/2 hours.
  3. In a small cup or bowl mix cornstarch with 2 tablespoons water until dissolved. Stir into stew. Cover and cook 30 minutes more or until carrots are cooked and meat is tender.
