Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp. sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp. peeled, grated fresh gingerroot
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 lbs. London broil (top round steak)
  • 1 tbsp. sesame seeds

  1. For the marinade, in a small bowl combine soy sauce, oil, garlic, ginger and brown sugar. Place steak in a large resealable plastic bag; add marinade. Seal bag; turn to coat. Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
  2. Preheat broiler to high. Remove steak from marinade; discard marinade. Place steak on a broiler pan rack or sheet pan. Place pan under broiler. Broil 4 minutes per side (145°F for medium-rare) or to desired doneness. Transfer steak to a cutting board; let stand 5 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, to toast sesame seeds, place in a small dry skillet over medium heat; cook 2 minutes or until golden.
  4. Cut steak across the grain into thin slices, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and serve.
