Beef and Cheddar Turnovers

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 6 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 small red bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 (15.5-oz.) can Sloppy Joe sauce
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar (8 oz.)
  • 2 (12-oz.) pkgs. refrigerated biscuits (10 per pkg.)

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. For filling, in a large skillet cook and stir beef, green onions and bell pepper over medium-high heat until meat is browned. Drain fat. Stir in Sloppy Joe sauce. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, 7 minutes. Remove from heat; cool slightly. Stir in cheese.
  2. To assemble the turnovers, separate biscuit dough into 20 biscuits. Roll each biscuit into a 5-inch diameter round. Spoon 2 tablespoons of the filling onto one end of each biscuit. Fold biscuit in half over filling and pinch edges to seal. Transfer to baking sheets. Bake turnovers about 8 to 10 minutes or until golden. Cool slightly. Serve warm.
